Gully Evolution Modeling

Ephemeral gully is a manifestation of water agent driven soil erosion. Many agricultural catchments around the world are subjected to ephemeral gully erosion that results in degradation of valuable resources with considerable financial and food security repercussions. They remove soil from hillslopes resulting in substantial contribution to catchment-scale soil loss and sediment yield.

This study aims to:

  • Spatially simulate and explicitly predict where gullies might occur.
  • Monitor and understand temporal dynamics of gully evolution (i.e. gully advancement over time).
  • Determining the model’s spatial fit.
